First Friday at Pittsford Fine Art – Featured Artist: Maureen Church

Maureen loves to capture the beauty of nature by painting “en plein air” at her outdoor easel. She looks for dramatic compositions and unique lighting to paint, day or night, and in all weather conditions. “I find the use of bold, loose brushwork to be a spontaneous, creative form of play on either small panels or canvases. Most of my studio paintings are then derived from my plein air works, in either encaustic wax or oils on canvas or linen,” states Maureen. She also enjoys painting with the warm, molten encaustic wax to create contemporary floral still lifes, and sweet animal portraits in her studio. To keep her joy of teaching alive, she occasionally offers private or small group painting instruction.
